INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into the brutal murder of a woman in Barmulloch.

Angela Humphrey was found in her flat in Quarrywood Avenue last Wednesday, February 26, after concerned relatives spotted her body in the living room and raised the alarm.

The 48-year-old, known locally as Angie, was a grandmother and had not been seen for nearly a week before she was found in her ground-floor flat at around 4.40pm.

Ms Humphrey separated from her second husband last year and had only lived in the street for two months before the attack happened.

She and had not been seen since the previous Friday, February 21, when she was spotted in the Gallowgate area of Glasgow.

A major investigation is now underway after the incident, which was described as a "violent attack" by police.

Officers believe local taxi drivers and revellers in the area may hold the key to finding out what happened in the last moments of Ms Humphrey's life.

Yesterday, the Evening Times revealed the 48-year-old was the stepmother of a man who was found dead in Shettleston last year.

The body of 26-year-old Sean Humphrey was discovered in the early hours of the morning on October 28 in Etive Street.

Two men were arrested in connection with the death, and police are now continuing their enquiries into the death of his stepmother Angela.

Officers are trying to piece together the woman's last movements, and have stressed that Ms Humphrey's murder was not related to any other investigation.

Ms Humphrey was last seen in the Gallowgate area by relatives on Friday, February 21.

Detective Inspector Burton believes local revellers and taxi drivers may hold the key to where Ms Humphrey went next.
