LOCAL residents have been invited to help shape the future regeneration of Port Dundas.

Businesses, landowners, council officers, developers and public agencies are being asked to work together to create a new vision for the area in the north of the city.

A series of events will take place from tomorrow until Friday in the Whisky Bond at Port Dundas. The event is being run by the city council, Scottish Canals and the Scottish Government.

There will also be a discussion about how to complement the new Paddlesports Centre, which is being built at Pinkston Quay, the growth of the cultural industries in the city's North Quarter as well as the needs of existing residents and businesses in Port Dundas.

Liz Cameron, the council's executive spokesman for jobs and the economy, said: "Port Dundas is part of a wider area that will undergo tremendous change over the next couple of decades but this will focus specifically on its unique qualities and future potential."

Steve Dunlop, chief executive of Scottish Canals, said: "Scottish Canals is committed to using the waterways innovatively, helping to build stronger communities along their banks."

The event at the Whisky Bond on Dawson Road will take place tomorrow at 9.30am. Community design sessions will be held tomorrow and Thursday at 6pm with a final presentation of ideas on Friday at 6pm.
