A MAN who suffered brain damage after an unprovoked gang attack on holiday in Australia has raised funds for the service that helped him recover.

Mark Willis, 29, from Summerston, was returning from a night out with his girlfriend in 2010 when he was assaulted outside a railway station in the suburbs of Sydney by a group of youths.

He was rushed to hospital for neurosurgery and three months later flew home to Glasgow.

Mark, pictured after the attack above, was referred to Glasgow's Community Treatment Centre for Brain Injury for rehabilitation and has now made a full recovery.

As a thank you for the support he received, Mark took part in the "Tough Mudder" extreme obstacle and fitness challenge and raised £1000 for the service.

Mark said: "I really wanted to show my appreciation and to say thanks to all the staff for their help and support. Without them I wouldn't be where I am today."
