A GLASGOW man has been banned from football matches for 15 months for sectarian chanting at an Airdrie vs Rangers match.

James Currie, 23, from Glasgow, was fined £450 at Airdrie Sheriff Court and given a 15-month Football Banning Order.

He was spotted by police, just after the game kicked off, on August 23, chanting sectarian abuse. Currie was later arrested and yesterday pleaded guilty to the offence. Stephen Ferguson, football liaison prosecutor, said: "Sectarianism simply has no place in Scottish football."
