CLEVEDEN Secondary pupils are celebrating success after earning a top report card.

Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIe) visited the West End school and rated it with three "very good" scores and two "good".

Youngsters were praised for their efforts in making the school a successful place to learn.

Watchdogs hailed an innovative cinema club run by pupils as one of the school's strengths.

Positive leaver destinations - where pupils go on to training, further education and employment - have risen from 75% to 90%.

Head teacher Roger Boyle praised staff, parents and pupils for their efforts.

Mr Boyle said: "The report is really a testament to the hard work of our pupils and staff, and also our parents and carers.

"We have a very mixed school population with 53% of our pupils coming from Scotland's 10% most deprived postcodes - but we make this one of our strengths.

"It is great to receive positive feedback from inspectors but now it's onwards and upwards for us, there is always more to achieve.

"Our school motto is Be All You Can Be and that is what we all strive for."
