GLASGOW'S best young public speakers have been revealed.

The final of the Glasgow Schools Public Speaking Competition, took place last night at the Scottish Prosecution College, with Fernhill School, in Rutherglen, being crowned winners.

The teams, from Craigholme School for Girls, Fernhill School, Glasgow Gaelic School and Holyrood Academy, debated the topic "Gender is not a barrier to success."

The Fernhill pupils will now go on to the West of Scotland final, on April 2, where they will face the winners from Dumfries & Galloway and Renfrewshire.

Organised by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, the competition began in 2012 and is now an annual event.

John Dunn, Procurator Fiscal, West of Scotland said: "Coming from different schools, areas and backgrounds, pupils have shared their experiences and views to become better public speakers."
