ELDERLY residents at a Glasgow sheltered housing development are celebrating the care company's anniversary.

Tenants with charity Bield have organised activities around the organisation's 'Free to Be' philosophy across all their Scotland residences to mark 43 years in operation.

At their Carntyne Gardens complex they will hold a party on Mothering Sunday.

Families will be invited and pampering sessions will be on offer for all the mums who use the service.

Brian Logan, Bield's chief executive, said: "We want to give our tenants choice about how they live their lives. Older people's aspirations are changing. They want to be able to live in their own homes for as long as possible, not go into residential homes just because they need extra care.

"They don't want set mealtimes and activities - they want to live their lives with extra safety that care can provide."
