DANCE troupe the Scottish Rockettes put on a charity show for travellers at Glasgow Airport.

The group strutted their stuff with British Airways staff to support Sport Relief.

Activities are taking place across the city this weekend in a bid to raise cash for people living in hardship across the UK and abroad.

The Scottish Rockettes, who perform at sports events all over the UK and beyond, touched down in Glasgow to help boost the £6.5million already raised by British Airways staff as part of their Flying Start partnership with Comic Relief and Sport Relief.

Customers travelling through the airport were also given the chance, in return for a donation to Flying Start, to win two return flights from Glasgow to London.

In a day of fundraising fun, local athletes and sportsmen - including members of Paisley's Pro-Life Fitness Centre and the Paisley Velo cycling team -also got on exercise bikes to help out the cause.

They added to the distances already pedalled by staff from British Airways, ground handling company Menzies, Glasgow Airport and other companies based at the airport.

Scottish arm wrestling champion Sean Paterson also sent out a challenge to visitors to try to beat him in return for a donation to Sport Relief.

And a flash-mob made up of staff from the Pro Life Fitness Centre and students from West College Scotland's Paisley campus added music and dance to the event.

Jim Keegan, British Airways' UK regional customer service manager said: "Our colleagues all over the world have pulled out all the stops to raise money for Sport Relief and to help children in the UK and around the world who lead difficult lives.

"Sport Relief encourages the public to get active and raise money to change lives.

"The efforts of our staff at Glasgow and their colleagues will build on those achievements and the people of Glasgow have responded in their customary generous manner."
