A POP-UP shop opened by a group of City of Glasgow College students has raised £500.
The shop, which was in the college's Charles Oakley Building and opened last Thursday, sold goods designed by college students including clothing and jewellery in aid of the Helensburgh and Lomond Young Carers Initiative.
Students hoped the shop would raise awareness of the barriers young people face in getting into education and received backing from First Minister Alex Salmond.
The P-OP SHOP was run by students on the college's NC Advertising and Public Relations, NQ Fashion Merchandising and NQ Retailing courses.
As first told in the Evening Times, it traded for two days and attracted custom from staff, students and members of the public.
Local celebrities and businesses, including X Factor finalist Nicholas MacDonald, Rangers' player Lee McCulloch, Glasgow Film Theatre, The Tunnel nightclub and comedy venue The Stand, have supported the shop by donating competition prizes.
Shaun Patrick Murphy, who studies PR and Marketing at the college, said: "The P-OP SHOP was a fantastic event for all involved.
"Not only did we all gain work experience and knowledge of how to work in our chosen field, we were also able to draw positive attention and raise money for the Helensburgh and Lomond Young Carers Initiative."
The initiative aims to make a positive difference to the lives of young carers.
