A possible sighting of a missing Scottish student in Manchester has turned out to be false.
Officers investigated a sighting of Manvir Singh, 21, from Bishopbriggs, in Manchester.
But it has since been established the man in the CCTV footage is not Manvir.
Police appealed for anyone with information on Manvir's whereabouts to get in touch.
Chief Inspector Rob Hay said: "It is disappointing that the image released is now confirmed as not being of Mr Singh.
"Every piece of information we receive is very important and it will be thoroughly investigated."
Manvir, who is studying medicine at Glasgow University, was last seen by a friend outside the KFC restaurant on Renfield Street at around 4.45pm on Wednesday March 19.
