Arabbit was dumped in a bin bag at a bus stop in Glasgow.
The Scottish SPCA was alerted at 4.30pm on Monday, March 24, when a member of the public found the bunny on Castlemilk Drive and handed her into a nearby police station.
The white and brown female rabbit, who is estimated to be between six and eight months old, is now in the care of the Scottish SPCA's Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre where she has been named Pip.
Animal Rescue Officer Stephanie McCrossan, said: "Pip was dumped in a cat carrier which had been tied up in a black bin bag.
"This was extremely cruel and could have led to Pip suffocating or being mistaken for rubbish.
"The cat carrier, which had a bowl of food inside and a water bottle attached, was filthy and covered in faeces.
"This is a very concerning incident and we are keen to trace the person responsible.
"If anyone recognises Pip and knows who owned her we would urge them to contact us.
"Pip was understandably stressed when she was found but is in good overall condition and we'll soon find her the loving home she deserves."
Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare
(Scotland) Act 2006 and anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
