Some would-be baton bearers will have to wait a little longer to find out if they've been selected for the Glasgow 2014 Queen's Baton relay after an error resulted in them being sent blank emails.

Up to 4,000 people were due to find out this morning if they'd been chosen to carry the Baton through the Scotland as part of the build up to the Commonwealth Games.

However, some people said that when they opened the much-anticipated email it was blank.

@Mark_Barlow tweeted: "Guessing those receiving blank #BatonRelay emails are the unsuccessful ones!"

@AmandaD163 tweeted: "Got an email about the queens baton bearer relay nomination and I can't open the email wahhh #typical #help #Glasgow2014."

John Riley Gillies tweeted: "Is anyone else's #BatonRelay email not showing the entire email?"

Susan Robb tweeted: "Blank notification email from @Glasgow2014 #BatonRelay #Fail #suspense."

Glasgow 2014 has responded to the concerns, tweeting: "We're working to resolve this issue and those affected will be contacted again with full details asap. Thank you."

The baton will visit 70 Commonwealth countries before the start of the Games.

It will be taken through 400 communities during its 40 day Scottish tour.
