GLASGOW band Mogwai will headline a weekend-long musical extravaganza to celebrate the Commonwealth Games.

The East End Social announced the details of its 'Last Big Weekend' - a concert to be held in Richmond Park, in Oatlands, on August 30- 31.

It will bring an end to a four-month long cultural programme organised by Glasgow's Chemikal Underground record label in the city's East End.

Mogwai will headline the Saturday line up while Sunday's acts will be lead by city DJ and record producer Hudson Mohawke.

A full list of support acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Mogwai are celebrating 20 years in the music business following the success of their eighth studio album, Rave Tapes, which charted at No 10 in the UK Album Charts and No 2 in the Scottish Album Charts.

The band are due to embark on a world tour before returning to Richmond Park in August.

Lead guitarist, Stuart Braithwaite, said: "We are immensely excited about playing Richmond Park this summer as part of the East End Social.

"It will be the biggest headline show we've done in Scotland to date.

"It's also great to be involved in the event as a whole, in what will be a fantastic year for Scotland."

Tickets are now on sale for the weekend festival and the dozens of events which will be held across the city during the four-month long event organised by Chemikal Underground.
