TWO weeks of road disruption are in store for residents of Glasgow as a gas mains pipe is replaced.

Scotland Gas Networks (SGN) will carry out a £110,000 upgrade of 1km of the gas network in Anniesland.

The second phase of this project, in Bearsden Road and Fulton Street, will start tomorrow and take approximately two weeks.

Existing metal gas mains and services are being replaced with modern plastic polyethylene (PE) pipe which has a minimum lifespan of 80 years.

Temporary traffic lights will be installed at the junction of Fulton Street with Bearsden Road.

SGN's spokesperson Manus Sweeney said: "Our engineers will be working seven days a week during this part of the project, with extended hours as required, to ensure our works are completed as quickly as possible with minimum disruption."
