THE family of a missing student have made a desperate plea for his return.

Manvir Singh, 21, from Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, disappeared from Glasgow City Centre more than two weeks ago.

Police now believe he was last seen at 9pm in Bridge Street/Argyle Street in St Andrews on March 19 getting off a bus. He may have been visiting friends at St Andrews University.

The Glasgow University medical student had been seen by a friend outside the KFC restaurant on Renfield Street at around 4.45pm that same day.

Today his dad Harpal Singh made an emotional plea.

Speaking in Glasgow, he said: "Manvir is a much loved son.

"All we want to know is that he is alright."

A possible sighting of him on CCTV in Manchester turned out to be false and police have been appealing for any information about Manvir's whereabouts.

His dad Harpal, 50, his wife Kirandeep, 41, and their 14-year-old daughter Hartneet are becoming increasingly concerned.

Manvir, a member of local dance group Punjabi No 1, is a third year student at Glasgow University where he is studying to become a doctor.

His family feared his disappearance could be connected to exam results.

Manvir is about 5ft 10in, of slim build, with short black hair and a goatee beard.

When he was last seen, he was wearing a navy blue hooded top with yellow markings on it, dark jeans and tan boots.

He was carrying a black bag.
