DETECTIVES are today probing the mystery death of a teenage female who collapsed at a house in a quiet city suburb.

The 19-year-old became unwell at a property in Woodside Gardens, Clarkston, and was rushed to hospital.

Police confirmed she later died at the Southern General Hospital.

It is understood the teenager, named locally as Jennifer Singh, was at her boyfriend's house when tragedy struck.

Emergency services raced to the quiet street shortly after 8pm on Sunday after she fell ill.

It is believed Ms Singh is from Strathaven, in South Lanarkshire, and works at the Sub Club nightspot in Glasgow city centre.

Grieving relatives gathered at her family home, but they were too upset to speak about the tragedy.

Medics have held a post mortem in an attempt to discover the cause of her death.

It is understood toxicology and blood tests will also take place.

However, the results may take several weeks to emerge.

Police today confirmed detectives are treating the death as "unexplained" and a full investigation has been launched.

Inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.

It is believed Ms Singh had been at the Sub Club, in Jamaica Street, the previous night, but it is not known is she was working or on a night out.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a 19-year-old woman who had taken ill at a property in Woodside Gardens in Glasgow on March 30.

"She was taken to the Southern General Hospital, where she later died.

"Police are awaiting results from the post mortem examination and the death is being treated as unexplained."
