GLASGOW Airport has unveiled a new look website as it prepares to roll out the red carpet to thousands of athletes who are due to jet in for the Commonwealth Games.

The website at www.glasgowairport.com gives a detailed overview of a passenger's journey through arrivals, departures, and security and highlights the airport's bustling retail areas. It has been designed to be easily readable on any device used, including mobile phones and tablets.

Steven Marshall, marketing manager at the airport, said: "We are really pleased with the look and feel of the new website.

"We cater for millions of passengers every year which means our website attracts a huge amount of traffic.

"Ultimately we wanted to enhance the functionality of the site, making it easier for visitors to navigate and to find the relevant information in as few clicks as possible."

The new website went live yesterday and Mr Marshall added: "All of the content has been refreshed including our interactive route map, which contains travel guides to over 100 destinations served by Glasgow Airport. We have also adapted the website so it will provide a great user experience irrespective of the platform being used."

Glasgow has 30 airlines serving more than 100 destinations worldwide including Europe, the US and Canada, the Caribbean, North Africa and the Gulf. It is on course to complete the second phase of a £17million investment ahead of the Games, which includes an extension to the international arrivals area.

Last year 7.4m passengers passed through the airport, which made Scottish aviation history six days ago when the world's largest passenger plane, the Emirates A380, touched down during a visit before heading to Dubai.
