THE cost of renting a home in Scotland has increased beyond the rate of inflation - but rent prices in Glasgow are below the national average.
Tenants across Scotland are now paying an average of £699 every month for their rent following an average 3.6% increase, according to lettings website Citylets.
But rents in Glasgow average at £628 per month.
Aberdeen recorded a rise of 10.9% to take its average monthly price to more than £1066. Rents in Edinburgh average £848 per month.
In its quarterly report, Citylets revealed rents for larger four-bedroom properties rose in all of the major cities over the past year.
The results prompted concern about the scale of housing supply in parts of the country.
