Detectives are continuing their enquiries following a sexual assault in Glasgow Green.

The Evening Times reported yesterday that the late night attack in Glasgow Green happened on Saturday, April 19, at around 11.30 pm.

A 27-year-old woman was walking from the Saltmarket through the East End park on her way home from work when she was approached.

The man came from behind and pushed her to the ground, before sexually assaulting her.

The young woman struggled with her attacker, who is described as white, around 5' 8" inches with short dark hair.

He fled the scene, leaving her in shock.

Detective Inspector Diane Caldwell said: "We are reviewing CCTV images and are assessing information which has been provided to us as part of our ongoing enquiries.

"As a result, I would like to appeal to a man who entered the park shortly after the incident.

"The victim made her way along a footbridge which leads from Glasgow Green into Adelphi Street in the Gorbals and remembers passing a man.

"If you were in the area at the time please contact us as a matter of urgency, you may have noticed something which seemed insignificant at the time but could prove vital in our investigation."

Anyone with information or knowledge of this incident is asked to contact officers at London Road on the police non-emergency number, 101. Alternatively, you can get in touch with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
