FOUR women were rescued from their cars in a spate of weekend road crashes.

Firefighters and paramedics freed a woman from her car after it crashed into a wall in North Lanarkshire on Sunday afternoon.

Appliances from Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch community fire stations attended the incident on the B8023 in Kilsyth shortly before 2pm.

In a joint road rescue operation firefighters used cutting equipment while paramedics stabilised the casualty.

She was then moved to a waiting ambulance and taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

In a second incident, on Sunday morning, three women were injured in a two-car collision.

Fire fighters were called to Station Road, in Ayr, at 8.15am

Crews stabilised one of the cars while cutting free a woman trapped inside.

They also gave first aid and oxygen to two others involved in the incident.

On arrival of ambulances all three casualties were passed to the care of paramedics before being taken to Ayr Hospital.
