KIRSTEN MacDonald and Gavin Smith have a dream £10,000 wedding to look forward to thanks to the Evening Times ...

and NHS staff.

The delighted couple were named the winners of our exclusive wedding competition after staff from Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride jammed the hotline with votes.

Kirsten, who is a speech therapist at the hospital, and husband-to-be Gavin, will enjoy a no-expense spared bash at Melville Castle surrounded by family and friends.

Everything from Kirsten's all-important gown to their tiered wedding cake and limousine will be taken care of by our top team of wedding specialists.

Kirsten, 33, said: "Gavin has been there for me during quite difficult times in my life. I just want to give him a day to remember.

"He really deserves it."

Gavin, 34, said: "Kirsten spends all day, every day looking after people. She deserves a day where it's all about her."

The couple, who are both from Edinburgh, met while they were both working for the Royal Bank of Scotland and love blossomed.

Kirsten, who helps rehabilitate stroke patients, said: "I wouldn't say it was love at first sight but I did know quite quickly that he was a good one.

"He's just right for me. He's really kind and loving."

Gavin pulled out all the stops last month to give Kirsten a proposal to remember.

Kirsten said: "He proposed on a gondola in Venice as we were going under the Bridge of Sighs.

"There is a saying that if someone tells you they love you at sunset under the bridge, it means that our love will last for eternity.

"But he didn't get down one knee, in case the gondola capsized."
