PRIMARY pupils joined an up-and-coming girl group on stage when the Czech stars visited their school.

5Angels - made up of teenagers Nikki, Tereza, Vendy, Angee and Veronika - performed at Ashpark Primary School, in Giffnock, in a packed hall to encourage pupils to consider a career in the performing arts.

The band, whose members are aged between 13 and 16, formed seven years ago and have released five albums in their homeland, selling more than 500,000 records.

They released their first UK single World Domination in December and since then have performed across the country, appeared on Blue Peter and toured with Union J.

This was the girls' first time in Glasgow since January when they supported the popular boyband at the Clyde Auditorium.

Tereza said they were happy to come back.

She said: "It is great to return to Glasgow.

"We came here for the first time earlier this year when we supported Union J on their tour. We love it and everyone is so friendly.

"It was a real pleasure to meet and perform for all the children and teachers at Ashpark Primary.

"We hope to return in the near future."

The girls, all trained dancers and gymnasts, invited some lucky pupils to join them on stage.

Head teacher Colin Gray said: "The students and teachers here at Ashpark Primary School loved having 5Angels come to visit us.

"It was an exciting experience and some of our pupils were lucky enough to dance on stage with 5Angels, which will hopefully encourage them to keep fit by dancing along to music.

"We also hope that it may give our pupils confidence to engage more in music, dance and the performing arts."

Angee was happy that the children enjoyed their visit and believes performing in smaller shows like this one will help the band when they share larger stages.

She said: "These intimate performances are great practice for some of our big arena shows later this year, including one where we are on the same stage as Backstreet Boys.

"We also love being able to see the children's faces light up with excitement when we perform and interact with them.

"We also encourage them to dance with us and have fun."

The band was formed in 2007 after a competition at a Prague dance school though the line-up has changed several times.
