The accusation that voting No to independence is unpatriotic "is insulting to the vast majority of the Scottish people", according to former Labour minister John Reid.

He will insist that "no-one campaign has a monopoly on patriotism" in a speech for the Better Together campaign in Stirling today.

Mr Reid, who was Secretary of State for both Scotland and Northern Ireland under Tony Blair and a Celtic chairman, will say independence puts at risk the pound, pensions and public investment.
