SCOTLAND'S boxers hoping to pack a medal-winning punch at the Commonwealth Games could be just the ticket for fight fans.

A public training session involving the country's best fighters is being held in Glasgow's East End just weeks before they step into the ring in their search for glory at the SECC.

The sports administrators at Boxing Scotland have decided to stage an open day at their high-performance centre in the Olympia at Bridgeton Cross.

But because of demand and limited space, fight fans will need a ticket to access the training session.

The tickets are free and are available from the Clyde Gateway Urban Regeneration Company.

Those interested are being asked to leave their name, address and contact details at the Olympia's concierge desk.

The open day will take place on Sunday, June 22, but a ballot will be held next Wednesday and those who have successfully applied will be notified the following day.

Fans will see members of Scotland's Games team train and spar.

The session is scheduled to last 45 minutes and is due to begin at 11am.

Clyde Gateway's vice chairman is local councillor George Redmond.

He said: "There's been great excitement in the local area about the fact that Olympia is the home of the new High Performance Centre.

"This is a sport which has historically had a huge following in the East End."
