A YEAR-LONG training scheme for front-line staff at Commonwealth Games venues has been completed.
Almost 1300 Glasgow Life employees working at venues across the city have taken part in the Glasgow Welcomes project.
It was designed to help hospitality, tourism and leisure staff deliver a memorable customer experience.
As well as Games venue workers, training has also been rolled out to staff at museums, libraries and other cultural venues.
Bridget McConnell, chief executive of Glasgow Life, said: "Our staff are our biggest asset and, along with the people of Glasgow, will be the face of the Commonwealth Games.
"They will provide the warmest of welcomes to athletes and coaches, spectators and delegates and will continue to provide excellent customer service to everyone who uses our sport and cultural venues, before, during and long after the Games.
"Glasgow Welcomes is an excellent initiative which will help our staff to improve their skills in a way that will benefit visitors for years to come."
Gordon McIntyre, deputy chairman of Glasgow Welcomes, said staff and businesses in the tourism and hospitality sectors had a major part to play in the success of the Games.
He said: "It's fantastic Glasgow Life has recognised the importance of ensuring their teams have the knowledge and skills to deliver great service to Games athletes, spectators and tourists.
"Teams have worked hard to implement a programme of training that will benefit venues and the wider city during the Games and beyond.
