POLICE are hunting two sick thugs who attacked and robbed a woman in a wheelchair.

The 47-year-old was attacked in broad daylight by two men who stole her handbag.

Officers said the terrifying incident took place in Waverley Park, Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, on Sunday.

It is understood the thieves wrestled her handbag from her arm before running away.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened at 3.45pm.

The amount stolen has not been revealed, but is it understood to be small.

Witnesses have been urged to come forward as police continue their investigation.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 3.45pm on Sunday, officers received a report of a robbery.

"A 47-year-old woman in a wheelchair was robbed by two men within Waverley Park, in Kirkintilloch. Inquiries are ongoing."

Meanwhile, a probe is under way after a man was robbed by a gang of thugs in his Govanhill home.

The group knocked on the victim's door at the property in Dixon Avenue before forcing him to hand over cash.

It is understood the man, who is in his 40s, was followed home from the local shops before the robbery.

He is believed to have been targeted by three men and a woman last Thursday afternoon.

Police have launched an investigation and a hunt is under way to find the culprits.

The incident comes after the Evening Times revealed two young women robbed a frail pensioner of £2000 after he left a bank in Govanhill.

The 74-year-old was thrown against a wall in Calder Street during the daylight attack.

He was so shocked he didn't report the mugging to police for several days.

It happened on May 27 but wasn't reported to police until May 30. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101.
