A LUXURY hotel owned by tennis star Andy Murray has scooped a five-star rating from the tourist board.

Murray, who is currently defending his title at Wimbledon, bought Cromlix hotel last year.

After a revamp, the hotel, which is three miles from Murray's home town of Dunblane, re-opened in April.

Murray said: "It's great news that Cromlix is now officially a five-star hotel.

"We've all worked hard to try to restore the hotel to its former glory and importantly, make it a nice place to go for the local community and beyond.

"We've had great feed-back so far from guests and we'll continue to make adjustments and improvements."

VisitScotland chair-man Mike Cantlay said: "Much like Andy Murray on the tennis court, a five-star grading from VisitScotland means a hotel has reached world-class standards across the board."

Earlier this month, animal rights camp-aigners complained about references to hunting on the hotel's website, which have now been removed.

Meanwhile, Murray was thrashing it out at the All England Club with Blaz Rola, defeating him in straight sets.

The victory, watched by his mother Judy and coach Amelie Maures-mo, was Murray's 15th consecutive win at Wimbledon.

Stiff competition is around the corner for the 27-year-old, who seeks to retain the Men's Singles title he won a year ago against Novak Djokovic.

His third round match will be against Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut.
