A WATERSIDE park is to undergo a major restoration after receiving a £2.7million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Levengrove Park in Dumbarton is to be revamped after the successful bid by West Dunbartonshire Coun-cil to refurbish the greenspace that sits on land where the River Leven meets the estua-ry of the River Clyde.

Plans include restoring and conser-ving the character and heritage of the park, which has been used as a recreation area for events since it opened in 1885.

The council said examples where the grant money could be spent include improved paths, restoring the pavilion, upgrading the play area and improving signage.
