PASSENGER numbers at Glasgow's Central Station have doubled during the second day of Glasgow 2014.

Traveller numbers had increased from 100,000 on a normal day to more than 200,000 today as commuters and spectators tried to make their way around the city from Central Station.

The transport hub activity came as tens of thousands of people descended on Commonwealth Games venues.

One city commuter said: "I get the train to Rutherglen everyday and today was just a nightmare. We are getting told to queue with no explanation."
