A HOSPITAL has been rapped for moving dementia patients between wards during the night.
The practice known as "boarding" means patients are moved to suit the needs of the hospital and not for medical reasons.
During an inspection at University Hospital Ayr, one patient with dementia symptoms was transferred at 3.50am.
Hospital policy states patients with a cognitive impairment should be transferred before 8pm, if possible.
