SCOTTISH film director Bill Bryden returned to Glasgow to introduce a screening of his 1986 filmversion of his stage show, The Big Picnic.

Originally written and performed in the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Govan in 1994, yesterday Glasgow Film Theatre played host to a later, big screen production of the First World War film.

It tells of the experiences of young men from Glasgow as they cope on the homefront and on the battlefield abroad.

Mr Bryden was reunited cast members Brian McAlpine, Iain MacCaskill, Laurence Crawford, Lewis Allan, Alastair MacRae and William MacBain and took part in a Q&A with audience members following the screening.
