Prosecutors in Germany have said they will end Bernie Ecclestone's bribery trial in exchange for a 100 million US dollar (£59.4 million) payment from Formula One's commercial chief.
The Munich state court has yet to decide whether to approve the deal, with a decision expected later today.
Ecclestone has been been on trial since April on charges of bribery and incitement to breach of trust. The charges involve a 44 million US dollar (£26 million) payment to banker Gerhard Gribkowsky, who is serving an eight-and-a- half-year sentence for taking the money.
Ecclestone denies wrongdoing and says Gribkowsky blackmailed him.
The 83-year-old's lawyers last week called for proceedings to be closed, citing lack of evidence that he was criminally responsible.
Prosecutor Christian Weiss said they would accept a deal which would see Ecclestone pay 100 million US dollars, news agency dpa reported.
