GLASGOW might be spared the worst of Hurricaine Bertha but there's still little good news from forecasters.

The city is to be battered by heavy rain and high winds throughout the weekend - and well in to next week.

Bertha, which has already hit the Caribbean, is currently moving across the Atlantic and is expected to hit the UK by Sunday.

Parts of Scotland can expect nearly two inches of rain with Glasgow looking likely to have just over one inch of rain on Sunday.

Temperatures will be relatively high for this time of year, reaching a high of 18C.

Forecaster Billy Payne, of Meteogroup, said: "Glasgow will have heavy showers, brisk winds and thunder.

"And it's looking unstable for the foreseeable future."
