FINES of more than £60,000 were issued to drivers for parking without permits during the Commonwealth Games.
Figures show a total of 1124 £60 penalties were dished out near Glasgow 2014 venues in Hampden and Scotstoun.
A council spokeswoman said: "The well-publicised travel strategy was to use public transport.
"The permits were in place to protect residents during the Games. Penalties were issued to drivers who chose to ignore parking restrictions - and inconvenience locals - in permit-only areas."
