A YOUNG holidaymaker has died while on holiday with pals on the Spanish party island of Ibiza.
The tragedy happened on Monday but police are still probing the cause of death.
Other close friends of Lewis Robertson, 20, from Larkhall, Lanarkshire, flew out to San Antonio last night where they had planned to meet up with him and his pals.
Today, the Foreign Office said they were providing consular assistance to his family "at this difficult time".
A spokeswoman added: "We can confirm that we are aware of the death of a British national in San Antonio in Ibiza on August 11."
Tributes were paid to Mr Robertson by friends on their Facebook pages.
Emma Anderson wrote: "Rest in peace wee Lewi. Absolutely devastating news. Thoughts are with all the friends and family and everyone over in Ibiza."
Another friend Paige Easton said: "In shock. Feel completely numb as if it's all a bad dream."
Ainslie McAlpine, who was one of Mr Robertson's friends heading for Ibiza, wrote a message on her social networking page before she flew out.
Ms McAlpine wrote: "Last thing I want to do is go to Ibiza but I can't wait to see the boys and tell my girls how much they all mean to me.
"One of the hardest decisions we've had to make about flying out to Ibiza tonight after the devastation, but that's what friends do, support each other and be there for each other at the toughest times.
"Going to be a hard one trying to pull ourselves together for the boys but we will manage. Honoured to be able to have called you my friend wee Lewi.
""You will be sadly missed from our lives RIP Lewis Robertson."
