COMMONWEALTH Games star Robbie Renwick, centre, got in the swim ahead of Scotland's biggest open water challenge.

He was joined by pupils from Braes High in advance of today's Great Scottish Swim at Loch Lomond.

World class athletes, around 2500 amateur swimmers, and a huge number of supporters and spectators, will be making their way north to be part of the event.

Following the move to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park last year, the event's mass participation field has grown by 25%, with hundreds more keen swimmers taking on half mile, one mile or two mile challenges in the open water.

Robbie said: "I took part in the Great Scottish Swim last year and it was an absolutely brilliant day so I can't wait to return this weekend.

"Open water can seem daunting for a lot of people, but it really is a great feeling to swim in fresh water."
