A devout Christian councillor came under fire as her election manifesto went viral - including pledges to re-criminalise homosexuality, make marital affairs a state offence and bring back capital punishment.

Independent councillor Susan Anne White, who is running for the West Tyrone seat in Northern Ireland, also called global warming 'pseudo-science', promised to fight feminism and stop the government building more mosques.

Many have criticised her self-proclaimed 'biblically correct' campaign - with one commenter describing Ms White as 'UKIP on steroids.'

She said that she doesn't consider herself 'extreme,' adding: "It is society that has moved. Not so far in the past, most people would have shared my views.

"My views only seem extreme because society has moved away from God's principles."

White only won 67 first preference votes last year for Fermanagh and Omagh council, compared to Sinn Fein's Pat Doherty's majority of more than 10,000 votes.

If elected, she promised to stop funding into 'depraved' LGBT arts and cultural events, as well as the power to jail gay people and cheaters.

She has previously called rock acts Kurt Cobain and Iron Maiden 'vulgar,' saying that she wanted to ban them.

She said they were a bad influence on young people, adding: "There is an ideology which permeates rock music and it is sexual anarchy. It is also linked to drugs."

Ms White also blamed feminism for the recession, saying that women now feel that they have to work instead of staying at home - and said that it was to blame for many modern 'social ills.'

Despite her militant views, she at least realises that her politics may not have widespread appeal in her community.

She said: "I believe in a God who can work miracles but, realistically speaking, I don't think I will win.

"My concern is not so much with winning, it is with trying, and to try is not to fail. In standing I have a wider platform than I would if I did not stand, and many people will hear the Biblical message and principles."
