DETECTIVES today released CCTV images of a man they wish to trace in connection with a double robbery.

Police hope the image – published exclusively in the Evening Times – could help solve the mystery behind the raid in Glasgow’s West End.

A newsagents is among the premises targeted in a recent spate of robberies.

Our image shows a man spotted on security cameras. And following the release, police hope they will be able to piece together what happened during the separate robberies.

It comes amid a Police Scotland campaign to to cut the number of robberies in Glasgow during the summer months, as well as catch the culprits behind those that remain unsolved.

Police hope images captured at Castle Newsagents in Partick could be the key to solving two incidents - which took place less than a month apart - at the store.

Officers are keen to trace the same man after he was seen on Wednesday July 30 and Wednesday August 27 at the shop in Dumbarton Road, near Hayburn Street.

Detectives launched a probe after the newsagents was raided at around 8.05am on Wednesday July 30.

The same shop was later targeted by a thief at around 7am on Wednesday August 27.

One image shows a man, who is a described as between 17 and 23-years-old, around 5 ft 10ins, of slim build and with dark hair.

On Wednesday July 30, he was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up, grey jogging bottoms, white Nike trainers and was carrying a plastic JD Sports bag.

Minutes later, he was seen getting into a black car in Dumbarton Road, near Ladbrokes Bookmakers.

Police have urged anyone who recognises the man to contact the Community Investigation Unit at Pollok Police Office.

Detective Superintendent Stevie Grant, who heads up Glasgow CID, said: “I would encourage anyone who recognises the man in the image to contact police.

“We believe they will be able to assist with police inquiries.”

Meanwhile, investigations are continuing into an attempted robbery and assault at George’s Wee Dairy in the Woodlands area of Glasgow.

The grocery store, in Clarendon Street, was targeted on Wednesday May 14 2014.

Police want to trace a man, who is described as being white European, and spoke with a Glaswegian accent.

He is believed to be around 30-years-old, of slim build and around 5ft 5ins.

He was wearing a black jacket, with the hood up, and dark blue jeans.

Around two months earlier, two men carried out a street robbery at the Trongate, near to Argyle Street, in Glasgow city centre.

It happened at around 9.10pm on Tuesday March 25 2014.

Police want to speak to two men who were captured on CCTV cameras near the scene.

The first man is described as between 18 and 21-years-old, around 5ft, and of slim build.

He was wearing a dark coloured rain jacket.

The second male is described between 18 and 21-years-old, around 6ft, and of slim build.

He was wearing a light coloured rain jacket.

Anyone who has information, or anyone who recognises the males in the images, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
