Serial killer Peter Tobin has suffered injuries to his face after he was slashed in jail.
The 68-year-old who raped and murdered at least three young women was attacked in Saughton prison in Edinburgh yesterday morning.
Tobin, of Johnstone, Renfrewshire, has been targeted several times since he was handed a life sentence for the 2006 murder of Polish student Angelika Kluk, 23, in Glasgow.
He was later brought to justice for the 1991 murders of Vicky Hamilton, 15, who was abducted in Livingston, and Dinah McNicol, 18, from Essex.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Prison Service said: “We are aware of an incident that took place yesterday. All assaults are reported to the police. We do not comment on individual prisoners.”
