British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted on board a train.
The incident happened sometime between 7.40pm and 7.55pm as she was on a train travelling between Alexandria and Dalmuir stations on Monday, June 22.
The victim was approached and assaulted as the 19.53 Balloch to Cumbernauld service travelled between the two stations.
The woman was left upset and extremely shaken following the incident.
The man responsible for the assault alighted from the train at Dalmuir station around 8.15pm. He is described as being about 5’ 7” in height with dirty blond hair and had grazes on his forehead. He was wearing jeans and a distinctive blue and black striped jumper with a red stripe on the front of it.
Constable Stephen Healy, the BTP officer in charge of the enquiry, is appealing for anyone who was on the train or at the stations and has information which can help enquiries to contact him as soon as possible.
British Transport Police can be contacted on 0800 40 50 40 or by texting 61016. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
