Fire crews found a "well developed blaze" when they arrived at the scene in Cloan Avenue in the Drumchapel area of Glasgow at around 6.45pm yesterday.
At the height of the incident 30 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze which started in one of the flats in the two-storey block.
People from eight flats were evacuated and accommodation was arranged for them.
