AN attempted murder probe is underway after a man was left fighting for his life following an “extremely violent” attack.
Police are appealing for information after a 38-year-old man was seriously injured during a disturbance in Kilmarnock on Saturday.
At about 11.10pm two men entered a home in Hareshaw Gardens and attacked the victim.
He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where staff describe his condition as serious.
Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.
Detective Inspector William McDicken said: “This was an extremely violent attack which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.
“Officers are carrying out inquiries locally and extra patrols will be in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
“I would ask anyone with information about this incident to contact Kilmarnock CID on 101.
"Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where all calls will be anonymous.”
