CONCERNS are growing for a vulnerable who has been missing from his home since yesterday afternoon.

Joseph McAlees, 63, was last seen in Kilwinning around 4.30pm on July 5 by family members, before he left to visit relatives in Greenock.

He has not been in contact with anyone since then and his family are growing increasingly worried.

It is also not known whether he has medication with him which he needs to take regularly.

Mr McAlees is described as white, with a local accent, around 5ft 8 inches tall and of medium build.

He has short hair and glasses and when he was last seen he was wearing a pale blue Adidas jacket, blue jeans and black Nike trainers.

He was also wearing a blue adidas rucksack and had a black hold-all with him.

Police have launched a probe and have appealed for information to help trace Mr McAlees.

Police Inspector Jim McMillan, of Irvine Police office, said today: “It is out of character for Joseph not to be in touch with his family.

"He has never gone missing before and given the fact that no-one has seen or heard from him concern for his wellbeing is growing.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have any information as where Joseph may be is asked to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Irvine Police on 101.
