BOXER Amir Khan brought joy to young patients at the children's hospital in Glasgow.

The two-time world champion visited youngsters to hand out gifts donated by the charity, Colours of Islam.

The visit was held to celebrate Eid, the religious holiday held by Muslims to mark the end of Ramadan.

Every year at Eid, Colours of Islam supports Yorkhill Children’s Charity, which raises money for the hospital.

Kirsten Sinclair, Director of Fundraising at Yorkhill Children’s Charity said: “Yorkhill Children’s Charity has a longstanding relationship with Colours of Islam and would like to thank them for the smiles and laughter they bring to our young patients at Eid every year”.

Refana Saleem from Colours of Islam said: “Colours of Islam are thrilled to have worked in association with Amir Khan Foundation in visiting the newly opened hospital and delighted the children can enjoy their new toys.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our dedicated supporters, sponsors and volunteers for all the support over the years.”

Yorkhill Children’s Charity has already funded more than £5million in equipment and service delivery at the new hospital including a £1m interactive play area which is the first of its kind in Europe.

Services transferred from Yorkhill Hospital to the Royal Hospital for Children at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in the city's South Side last month.
