THE brother of Lamara Bell, who died after police failed to attend an M9 car crash, has blasted the force for their failure.

Liam Bell is yesterday signed a petition calling for the resignation of Chief Constable Sir Stephen House and Justice Secretary Michael Matheson.

Writing on the change.org petition website, Mr Bell said: "My sister could have still been alive if it had not been for there failure to attend an accident, if someone were to accidentally phone emergency services they would be on respond in ten minutes."

Almost 700 people have now signed the online petition, which was set up following the death of young mum Lamara on Sunday.

The 25-year-old lay in a car for three days next to her dead partner, John Yuill., after police failed to respond to an emergency call about a car crash.

The petition, started by Peter Simpson, states: "Following systemic failures at Police Scotland, two young people lay seriously injured in a crashed car for three days...

"Both John Yuill and Lamara Bell died because of that crash.

"Children have lost their parents.

"Brothers/sisters have lost siblings.

"Their parents have lost children... This is totally unacceptable in the 21st century, and those at the top must accept responsibility and resign with immediate effect."

Martin, another brother of Ms Bell, is understood to have urged mourners to wear bright colours to the mum-of-two's funeral, which will be arranged after her body is released.
