A NEW multi-story office block is set to join the city’s skyline as developers seek the the green light to start work on the Broadway Two development.

Developers hope the council will approve plans for a nine storey multi-million pound project on Renfield Street.

Work on the site between The Citizen M Hotel and The Evening Times office and across from the Pavilion theatre will start pending the council’s planning decision which is expected in September.

Broadway Two is led by London based developers Titan Investors who purchased the site in 2014 and have a track record of delivering office spaces across Scotland.

Glasgow based architects, Cooper Cromar, have designed the building having already provided plans for the project’s sister building, Broadway One.

The site is set to have 180,000 sq ft capacity and offer Grade A office accommodation.

The new office will complete the Broadway project, with Broadway One currently housing Tesco bank in an adjacent building.

Plans include space for a restaurant on the ground floor and open modern interiors.

The building is available to rent as a whole or in individual units – as yet none have been leased.

Glasgow’s Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the news of the new development and hopes the building will help attract more world class business names to the city and boost office capacity.

Glasgow Chamber of Commerce deputy chief executive Richard Muir said: “This is good news for the city centre. Even with a number of projects currently under construction, there is still a shortage of Grade A office space. “This will help the city continue to attract inward investment and grow its well-deserved reputation as great place to work, live and visit.”

The Broadway Two proposal comes at a time when Glasgow city centre is greatly increasing its office space capacity to match demand for quality offices.

Developers BAM and Taylor Clarke received planning approval for the £70 million, 280,000 sq ft Atlantic Square project on Argyle Street last year as the city races to keep up with demand.

Work is due to begin in August on the 110 Queen Street project which is due to deliver an added 143,000sq ft of office space to the city centre.

Another key project in the city delivering new office space is the 1 West Regent Street site which has floor space of around 150,000 sq ft and was opened by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
