A WOMAN was killed after being pinned against a wall by her own car in her driveway.

Catherine Hughes, 58, was left trapped between the motor and a wall during the horror accident in Glasgow.

It is understood the vehicle started to roll back and Mrs Hughes was crushed when she was hit by it.

Shocked neighbours said the 58-year-old had been in the driveway washing her car when the tragedy took place.

Paramedics and police raced to the scene, but Mrs Hughes was pronounced dead at the scene in Royston Road, yesterday afternoon.

One neighbour described her as a "gem of a woman".

It is not yet known who found Mrs Hughes trapped between the wall and her car and neighbours said they only became aware of the tragedy when they heard sirens in the quiet street.

Her devastated relatives and friends gathered at her home yesterday afternoon as they tried to come to terms with their loss.

Tearful family members and pals were seen arriving at the family home in Stepps.

Others paid tribute to Mrs Hughes on social media websites.

One pal simply wrote: "RIP Cathy, what a great lady."

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after 1pm yesterday, but nothing could be done to save Hrs Hughes.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 1.15pm police and emergency services received a report of a road traffic collision involving one car on Royston Road.
