A bearded dragon has been abandoned and found next to bins in Clydebank.

The creature was discovered on Vanguard Street and The Scottish SPCA was contacted.

The bearded dragon is now in the care of the charity's Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Cardonald.

Glasgow Times:

Inspector Jennifer Connolly said: "I suspect this beardie has been abandoned and would appeal to anyone who recognises him to contact us.

"He is a big guy and other than being cold when he was found is in good condition.

"We took in 38 bearded dragons in 2014 and have already rescued 29 this year.

"This may be down to people buying them without doing the proper research on the type of care they need.

"We have a number of beardies currently looking for knowledgeable owners and anyone interested is welcome to contact us. They can make fantastic pets in the right homes."

Anyone with information or interested in rehoming a bearded dragon can contact the Scottish SPCA on 03000 999 999.
