DRUGS worth more than £500,000 have been seized and nine people arrested during a blitz on organised crime.
The massive haul, including heroin, cocaine and cannabis, was seized during a series of raids in Glasgow.
Following police operations on Wednesday 22 July 2015, eight people were arrested, and a quantity of drugs, worth an estimated street value of more than £500,000 seized. 
Valium with a street value of around £50,000 was also seized after  police swooped on a car in Glasgow’s West End. Officers stopped the motorist at around 5.30pm on Wednesday in Dumbarton Road, Partick.
Drugs were seized and a 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the find. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.
Almost two hours later, police raided a property in Peel Street, Partick and found Valium and cannabis worth more than £380,000.
Four men aged  23, 25, 29 and 67 were arrested in connection with the seizure. The group are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.
A 50-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman were arrested after 
cocaine and heroin – worth £75,000 – were found in a house in Annick Drive, Bearsden.
During the day of action, a vehicle was stopped by officers in Summerton Road, Govan, around 10.30pm and half a kilo of cannabis was found inside. A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the seizure, which was worth around £1000.
Detective Superintendent Andy Gunn, head of the Organised Crime Unit in Glasgow, said his officers will continue to target city crime gangs.
He said: “These seizures will cause considerable disruption and once again highlights our determination to crack down on those involved in crime.   
“Drugs cause so much misery in our communities and it’s our intent to root them out and keep them out in order to keep people safe. 
“We continue to work with members of our local communities to ensure anyone who chooses to be involved in criminal activity is targeted effectively and held to account.”
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with alleged drugs offences in Bishopbriggs after drugs worth £5000 were discovered.
