RANGERS target Scott Allan has been the subject of vile online abuse after he handed in a transfer request at Easter Road.

Hibernian have turned down two offers from the Gers for the highly-rated midfielder and again reiterated their desire to keep the player at the club last night.

But Allan’s Twitter account was bombarded with messages in the hours after Hibs confirmed he had expressed his desire to leave the Capital as he was labelled ‘Judas’ and subjected to a barrage of abuse.

Many of the sick posts referred to the 22-year-old’s diabetes while one, by user, @H0wGoodItWas, said: "Hope Scott Allans whole family get cholera, malaria, typhoid, aids, herpes, anthrax, swine flu, leprosy and kidney failure."

Several of the tweets were deleted shortly after posting as Allan came under fire and his transfer saga took an unpleasant twist, with some users saying they wished the midfielder would ‘die’.

Fans were quick to condemn the shocking messages directed at the former Scotland Under-21 international, with the Rangers Supporters Trust labelling the abuse ‘disgusting’.

Allan joined Hibernian in July 2014 and was named the PFA Championship Player of the Year last season.

He was a second half substitute as Rangers beat Hibs 6-2 in the Petrofac Training Cup on Saturday in new manager Mark Warburton’s first game in charge.
